The environment is inextricably linked with any conversation on social development, disaster mitigation and livelihoods. DBF’s holistic approach towards solving developmental questions in Uttarakhand includes addressing the aspect of environment conservation in its projects. Our direct chance to work on the issue came through the Namami Gange flagship program of the government. We are making efforts to be a part of more conservation projects thereon.
Uttarakhand houses Gangotri—the source of the Ganga, which becomes a crucial point in any discussions about the river’s conservation. In 2017, DBF undertook projects under the Union government’s flagship program ‘Namami Gange’ to aide water conservation efforts for the river Ganga. These included the building of Sewage Treatment Plants in village river banks and ghats in the districts of Rudraprayag and Chamoli along with conducting an extensive awareness campaign for people. The project was funded by the Ministry of Water Drinking, Government Of Uttarakhand the State Program Management Group, Namami Gange, Uttarakhand.
